SVG to PowerPoint

As a follow up to one of my more popular posts, and to scratch one of my own itches, I decided to figure out how to convert an SVG file to be used in PowerPoint.

Turns out it is quite easy. Open the file up in Inkscape and save it as an EMF file. That will import right into PowerPoint. It will ask if you want to convert the text to paths. This means that Inkscape will take any text you have and convert the fonts to be actual vectors instead of text that uses a font. This may sound like a distinction without a difference, but it really isn't. If you are going to be using a very unique font or even a more common font but that may not be on the computer you will be presenting on, click yes. If you are not sure, click yes. This option makes your text un-editable, but it will display perfectly every time because the shapes of the font are now built into your vector image instead of being pulled from the system.

Once you have your EMF simply import it as you would any other image. I like the drag and drop method myself.
